CSET study guide
So you’ve decided to take the CSET test and become a certified California teacher. |
|
Yes, when it comes to those CSET tests, you’re going to need all of the study time you can get. But before you go ahead and book your test dates for the CSET practice, you’re going to come up against a tough dilemma…
..And what you decide on could ultimately affect your future as a certified California teacher.
The CSET Band-Aid Method
You’ve heard of that analogy about the band-aid, right? You’ve had a band-aid on a scratch for awhile – and youknow that pulling it off is going to hurt. So how are you going to approach it? Will you opt for the slow method, which hurts less but lasts for a longer period of time? Or will you make it fast: it might hurt more, but it’ll be over before you know it?Wondering what all of this has to do with your CSET preparation? Well, it’s simple: because you’ll be expected to take three CSET subtests, you can opt to take them all at the same time or spread them out over the course of three weekends. And no matter how many tests you choose to take, you’ll only have five hours to complete them all. That’s five hours for one test, five hours for two and five hours for three CSET tests.
So what testing schedule is right for you? Will you opt to get the hardest part out of the way and take all three subtests at once? Or will you prolong your CSET test preparation and spread them out over a few weekends?
How to Determine Your CSET Test Schedule
Luckily, we’ve got the guidelines you need to determine your best CSET test schedule!- Do you consider yourself to be a great test taker? Do you have loads of self-confidence to spare? Then consider taking all three CSET tests at once and get over with it.
- Do you consider yourself to be an average test taker? Have you purchased your CSET study guides to learn new skills, rather than brush up on older material? Then take no more than two subtests within a day, as you won’t have the mental stamina or confidence to sit through three.
- Don’t forget that you can opt to take subtests out for order. For example, if you haven’t seen the material on subtest 2 for years, you can opt to take subtests 1 and 3 together on the same day, and then wait to take subtest 2.
