Essays make up a huge portion of every CSET subject test – even the CSET Math test! While preparing for your CSET before exam day will ensure that you know most of the essay topics, you might encounter an essay where you just don’t know the answer. However, don’t just skip over it and watch as it drags down your score. Instead, write down as much as you know about the topic. Markers will give you a certain portion of points for demonstrating your knowledge, which is certainly better than nothing!

When taking the CSET test, work out how much time you’re going to get for each question. For those test takers taking CSET: Multiple Subjects, this works out to an average of one minute per question. If there’s a particularly difficult question that’s eating up your time, move on to the next question. Don’t return to it unless you have enough time at the end of the test. This is done so that you don’t waste precious time on a difficult question – and miss out on easier questions that would rack up points!

CSET test coaches know that emotions can interfere with test scores just as much as your testing knowledge. Therefore, don’t let anxiety and nervousness prevent you from passing your CSET.
